Thanks to hurricane Irene, many of the Pendel Family Camp Meetings delegates headed home yesterday. The remnant met today for Sunday School and the Holiness Meeting. It was great.

The weather was stormy as we made it to the worship hall. Sure enough, right in the middle of singing, the power went off. The unflappable Lt. Colonel Lance kept the meeting moving with available light from the emergency lighting system in the room. As the preacher came to the phrase, “we ought to love each other,” the lights came on.

More than half in the room went to prayer at the mercy seat or in corps groups. All of us were blessed.

Not distracted by the storm around us, we sought the Lord and He revived our hearts. Hallelujah!

“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165 NIV

In TSA and in many Christian circles, social justice, though not new, is getting fresh energy and support. In its pure definition, it describes much of what we have been doing in TSA since the beginning of our mission. That is helping, protecting and caring for the marginalized, impoverished and oppressed. The addition that social justice today amplifies is in the area of morals as well.

Some political commentators are labeling social justice as the cry of socialists. It leads to inflammatory dialogue and could be thought of as disingenuous. The concern raised is that this egalitarian approach to society, of necessity must take from the wealthy to lift the poor.

I think that at this time in our culture we have to do more to help those in need. However it is labeled, it is how we love our neighbor as ourselves. Hallelujah!

In the course of winning the world for Jesus, we need to keep thinking about and planning for the children to be included. Jesus was clear about such and we have every responsibility to do so. They are a blessing that we must consider in what we do.

How many of us were drawn initially to Jesus as a child? Of such is the Kingdom of God.

Thank you, Lord for our children. Help us to be faithful in our example and in our intentions. Hallelujah!
