Sabbath
Sunday can be a wonderful opportunity as a day of rest. For many, even in ministry, there isn’t really much rest. They work. They organize. They take care of others.
A day of rest, however doesn’t just mean time on the hammock. It very much means a rest from our labor and a focus upon God.
So how was today for you? When do you take your Sabbath?
Isn’t every day supposed to be holy?
“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:11-12 NIV

I just cannot get past those comments that Jesus made at the end of Matthew 11: “Come on all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon me and learn of me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest to your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.” (verses 28-30). Our Sabbath rest is in Christ. So, I think that if we are having a stressful, burdensome, hard Christianity, then we are not obeying our sabbath, but trying to “work” during it. What do you think?
