Consulting

by Jim Knaggs on July 28, 2010

More and more we depend upon consultants in our mission. We need to speak with specialists in certain fields who can make an objective assessment and recommend a course of action. The consultants should never make our decisions, only inform our decision making. Nor can we rely so much on a consultant that we ignore our own perspective or mission priorities.

There was a time we employed consultants to affirm our convictions. When that happens, OK, but it cannot be the objective of the relationship. I thank God for these professional people who give their lives for our mission. I especially value those who are able to present creative options about our circumstances to move us in a missional direction. That will honor the Lord.

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 3:14

This is a timely post. I met with Majors Terry and Beryl Camsey this morning. They’ve been ministry consultants to the Moreno Valley Corps for at least 5 years. During my two years here they’ve been mentors personally and resourceful in helping advance the mission/vision of our corps.
