Hearing from God

by Jim Knaggs on July 10, 2010

Someone recently challenged me about the reality of hearing from God. The breaking point of his argument was that he could not accept the Bible as God’s word. It’s a shame.

The Bible is the first place you go to hear from God. It is His word to us and for us. The truths therein are life changing and proof positive of God’s presence in them. He absolutely is speaking to us. When you follow His word you begin to see the truths of His word in your life. Relationship in place, we’re connected intimately so that we know when He’s leading us. We can hear Him.

God bless you friend in your search for the way, the truth and the life. His name is Jesus.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”-Philippians 1:6

I was pleased to see that you mentioned that the Bible should be the first place to go and hear from God. I always taught that the Word was primary and other sources were perhaps helpful but not always reliable such as general revelation and other people. I do not discount the Holy Spirit at all either but He always lines up with the Word. It is unfortunate that I have read in various locations on the internet and sites where officers often visit , where the Bible is put down as not being reliable and outdated. I hear from those that desire to push their (more than liberal agendas) that the Bible has only some of the truth and quote various portions that they throw out and make a mockery of it. When I and some others take a stand on the Word, we are then called Bibliolaters and closed minded. I see it as an attack to discount and attempt to cause doubt and chaos among Bible believers. If you have no “standard ” to follow, then you have no standard to live . What a danger !

Thank you for your communication .
