Engaging youth with music project
As part of the ongoing work in bushfire affected Victorian communities, The Salvation Army is engaging with youth through the Salvos Youth and Music Project – proudly sponsored by Sony Foundation.
This project is currently in operation at Kinglake, Flowerdale, Maysville and in the Healesville and Yarra Glen area. In recent weeks more than 50 young people have participated in song writing workshops and activities as part of the initial phase of this project.
In coming weeks groups will also start in Myrtleford, Horsham, Traralgon South and Broadford. Investigations are currently underway regarding establishing groups in Boolara, Eaglehawk and Strathewen and a location will be identified in the Mitchell/Murrindini Shire.
This project gathers together young people to learn how to write songs so that they can express themselves in a constructive way. With more than 12 months passed since Black Saturday, it is important that people are given the chance to express their emotions.
The groups are supported by local musicians, vocal coaches, youth workers, song writers and recoding engineers. Participants will be able to see their songs develop from the writing process, through rehearsals, ultimately leading to recording their songs and performing them in public.
With the generous support of Sony Foundation, The Salvation Army will be able to extend this unique and creative project to many young people living in communities affected.
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,”- Philippians 3:20

i couldn’t agree more… I think when God ask us to go and spread the word of God, God want us to use every single talent we have, every media that we can use. by doing what TSA do, it can encourage youth to be God’s witnesses in expressing God’s love… Nice work TSA!!
Thank you, friend. God bless you.
