by Jim Knaggs on April 12, 2010
You are invited to attend a very significant event that has been arranged by The Salvation Army Melbourne – Project 614.It is called’ “Connecting Melbourne”, and it will be held next Tuesday, April 13th, from 12.30pm-1.30pm.The venue will be the Federation Square Main Stage.

This particular “Connecting Melbourne” event will feature a panel of experts, including the Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, well known psychologist Michael Carr Gregg and ABC 774′s Richelle Hunt and John Cleary. The focus of their conversation will be Melbourne’s emerging culture of violence. The panel, engaging with the audience, will focus on the following questions: Why has a culture of violence emerged in Melbourne? Is it time now for Melbourne to develop its own set of values? If so, what should some of those values be? How could they be embedded in our communities? Should this set of values be called, “The Melbourne Way?” In other words, the Melbourne Way to treat others is…

It promises to be a dynamic and at times, provocative conversation, and we would dearly love to have you as part of it. Please come along, join in this significant discussion, and feel free to spread the word using the attached poster below. We believe that this “Connecting Melbourne” event will be the beginning of a series of stimulating events that will be occurrung around Melbourne in the coming months that will help generate some serious thought and discussion about what we truly value as a community.
Isaiah 61:4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
