Creative Arts Leaders Day

by Jim Knaggs on April 11, 2010

Great day with Victorian Creative Arts Leaders today. The worship was wonderful and the fellowship inspiring.

We witnessed the first performance of our new Territorial Big Band. They’re great.

We launched the new Band journals Arthur Gullidge Journal (full band) and the Noel Jones Journal for ensembles. Both contain optional parts and charts for reed and some string instruments. This is a major step forward. We also launched a vocal series and a contemporary band series called “Spark.” These too will be useful to us and available around the world over the internet. Great work, Creative Arts Team!

When we fan into flame the gift of God among us, we first spark up our faith, then the ministry gifts will be fired up as well.

I thank God for each of these leaders present and not. Hallelujah!

2 Timothy 1:6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Oh wow! Fantastic! I’ve wondered for years why we don’t have more big bands in the Salvos – sensational! I’m waiting for some Corps jazz groups now… bring it on people – you can do it!

  2. our KC (Kroc Center) Big Band had been in existence for a year now – along with a Dixieland Band and a New Adventures Band (for people who played in the past but haven’t done so in a while). What wonderful music-making – and ministry outside the walls of the Army. They’ll all be a part of an evening concert celebrating our first anniversary. Lots of pictures on http://www.ashland.salarmykroc.org.

Must be really great, being an old Sunshine band boy, banding can be a heap o fun,we certainly drew attention when we waited for the Railway gates to open on Sunday night.

Big Bands are the only bands in China, and New Oeleans in the great USA, and anyone not stirred watching Regent Hall marching down regent street in the snow had no soul, yet there was something true about Sunshine band.
