The Fellowship
When in the company of believers, we often refer to the fellowship. When our kids as teens said they were going over to someone’s house for fellowship, they meant to convey a safe environment where we didn’t need worry. (When a teen says they’re going somewhere for fellowship, it’s generally a con job. They use different words for their interests, pure or not. Who didn’t know?)
The fellowship, then, is a safe environment where the cause of Jesus is primary and where holy behaviour is expected and celebrated. We know that salvation is a personal experience and that one can be a Christian without belonging to a church or fellowship. The wisest approach to faith, though, is in fellowship. We absolutely need to receive encouragement and accountability and others in the fellowship need to learn from our experiences. It’s a good plan.
Join the fellowship and enjoy the good company. Some of us are in the fellowship but haven’t actually joined. Know their names? Their children’s names? Their interests? If you’re not saying yes, you need to join the fellowship. It’s a good thing.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”- Romans 8:28
