Every Corps with Officer Candidates

by Jim Knaggs on November 16, 2009

A basic responsibility of every corps is to see people saved, made soldiers and prepare candidates for full time service as in officership. I believe that every corps should attempt to produce a candidate every year. This isn’t a statistical matter. It speaks to the purpose of a fellowship of believers known as soldiers. New people should be coming throughout the year and in this group there should be people led by God to service.

I encourage every corps to consider the possibilities of a regular recruiting and preparation strategy to do so. These are the basics that we need to get back to. These are the factors of an early day SA that can manifest themselves in this age. Let’s give it our best. I believe God will surprise us with a harvest that will challenge our nets. Hallelujah!

I certainly am praying that all Corps leadership will capture the vision of relea
sing people into the calling of Officership. As an Officer I have always preached , prayed & believed that there are two sensational moments : 1. When someone comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. 2. When a soldier is obedient to the calling of God upon their lives to become an Officer in The Salvation Army. I join you Commissioner in the vision of :”EACH ONE (corps)..REACH ONE” .(indeed there are many corps who have so many more than one.)
