Making History

by Jim Knaggs on October 10, 2009

The Tassie 125th Anniversary continues with the world record setting event by Roy Maloy this afternoon. In front of an outdoor audience of over 1,000 people and in the company of the emergency medical squad, an ice block of 550 kgs. was lowered by forklift onto his bare chest. He was lying on a bed of sharp (and rusty) nails. After he took the weight on his chest, five robust men began to break the block of ice with sledge hammers. It was very tense, but after what seemed like an eternity and a broken sledge hammer, Maloy emerged unscathed and in the next minute, breathing out fire.

Why, you say? He does this to draw attention and present the gospel. Sounds to me like a few of our early celebrated Salvationists.

Later in the evening we enjoyed an incredible joint concert by the Melbourne Staff Band and the Southern Gospel Choir. Both rocked the house with profound performances, all designed to glorify the Lord. Hallelujah!

32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32 NIV
