Fourth of July

by Jim Knaggs on July 4, 2009

So the question goes, “Do they have a 4th of July in England?” And, of course, the answer is yes they do. It follows the 3rd of July. The question is premised upon the 4th of July being a holiday in the USA as opposed to simply a date in the calendar.

It’s based upon independence. Most people are driven to independence. Every child moves in that direction and so do countries who want to determine for themselves what is best for them. I think it a natural course of maturity. Perhaps that’s what Adam and Eve had on their minds when they chose to sin against God. We do the same.

Are you free from the society that is attempting to mold and control you? You can be, by being set free in Jesus.

Psalms 119:45 (NIV)
45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

Why pay the price that comes with personal independence, which leads to enslavementwhen the ulimate price was paid by Jesus so we could be Free forever.
